This is a multi-part message in MIME format. ------=_NextPart_000_0018_01C1B098.4108D520 charset="iso-8859-1" Hi Derek, Thanks for answering my query. I had tried writing Control Z to the text file but it was not interpreted as end of file. I can't understand how the system adds the actual eof marker. I have decided to do as you suggested and add a marker at the end of the new data and to only read that far when I use the file for input. Cheers, Matthew ------=_NextPart_000_0018_01C1B098.4108D520 charset="iso-8859-1" <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN"> <HTML><HEAD> <META content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" http-equiv=Content-Type> <META content="MSHTML 5.00.3314.2100" name=GENERATOR> <STYLE></STYLE> </HEAD> <BODY bgColor=#ffffff> <DIV><FONT size=2>Hi Derek,</FONT></DIV> <DIV><FONT size=2>Thanks for answering my query.
