Here's what pt.exe reported:

Path troubleshooter for Edita.
==============================
 This is just some cut-down code from eacons.ew which should be much
  easier to trace() than when buried in the depths of Edita source.
 Also displays some messages as to what it is trying to do.

 Note: running eg "exw.exe pt.exw" is //VERY// different to running
  pt.exe, and possibly again to eg "exw pt" or "exw test\pt".
