Chris,

          I did put in 
          the drive path e.g.  c:\
          and then the directory name 
          e.g. c:\autoruns 

and ...............  WORKED .

          So from what you have taught me 

          I added  "c:\\" &  to exit_code statement 

and ..............  Now just have to type dir. name 


exit_code = walk_dir("c:\\" & name,routine_id("look_at"),FALSE)
