Re: Linux system config q's and complaints!
you should be able to get a gcc/g++ binary from
the GNU home page http://www.gnu.org. Once you
have that the rest should be able to build
itself. If not 95% of the win-managers are
available in binary from http://www.slackware.org
hope this helps,

Subject: Linux system config q's and complaints!
Could somebody send me a compiled and ready to
use gcc compiler + any stuff
it needs ALONG WITH decent documentation? Could
someone also send me a
compiled and ready to install desktop (ie KDE,
GNOME), and that too WITH
decent documentation? I'd prefer Windows Maker,
because from what I've seen
on the net, it appears to be the best smaller
one. I've already d/l'd its
files, but don't have a clue as to how to
install/compile them. I've tried
to read its documentation, but I don't get it.
If you'd like to help me, the
Windows Maker website is
http://windowsmaker.org/. Why do all Linux progs
I
see need to be compiled, is it that open source
thing w/Linux? If thats so,
just distribute your prog in a source & compiled
form, jeez!
I'm running LoopLinux, which previously was known
as DOSLinux. If anyone
cares, it was last updated 2/3/00. I don't
remember its website, you could
probably figure out via YAHOO!.
If somebody does decide to help, I'd suggest
posting the compiled stuff on a
webserver, mailboxes usually only hold 3 megs.
You're probably thinking to yourself, stay with
DOS, quit complaining! I see
Linux as a real possibility to overthrow Windows
and DOS. I want to learn
this system and possibly help make it better.
One last thing, under LoopLinux/DOSLinux, is it
possible to get a new kernel
w/o screwing up the current configuration, or
does LoopLinux have its own
kernel version?
If anyone knows a good HOWTO site, please tell
me!!
Thanks,
Mike Hurley
