Sounds like a bit of extra work uploading & testing
every time a new contribution is added, and I don't think
many people are using CSS.

Actually it has always been two tables, for the
very reason you mention. Lately the first table has become
much bigger than the second... OK, I just split it into 3 tables.
Back in my pre-DSL days, I used to notice that
my browser would sometimes not bother to load 
the second table, especially if I clicked on a 
.zip in the first table.

Some of the names are obsolete,
but many of these pages are linked from 
search engines, and I don't want to lose the traffic.
Besides... Who navigates through a Web site
by typing in the names of pages?
