v56 is pretty unfamiliar to me, but a brief look suggests that the problem
is somewhere in destroy.  The only place that error message seems to come
from is getHandle.  I suspect that win32lib is trying to do something with
the control after it's actually been destroyed, which is why it can't find
the handle.  My advice is to trace back to see where it's happening, and
rework destroyControls().
