ATI & Use_Vesa?

Hello all.
I recently installed a ATI Rage/Pro Mach 64
and regardless of useing Use_Vesa or not,
some of my programs will not run...............
I get about 200 line of the program on top of the
screen and it looks like all the program is there
just mangled.
Any input on the subject would help...
