I cant agree more, even a silly thing like QBasic had :

   on_error_goto(line#)

or something like that.

The recovery routine could be a tried and proven block of code such as
a file save routine--doing absolute minimum--yet saving all that data.

If there was some way to recover 9 pages of data because one
string slice overshot the end of the sequence by +2  .........
