Carl,

you don't have to use drive mappings! Look at the following example:

---------------------------------------------
include file.e                  -- dir()
object x
x = dir("\\\\REMOTE_PC\\C$\\DIRNAME")
---------------------------------------------

will return the DIRNAME-content if the remote machine, drive, and dir
is existing and permitted.
