I know it's bad to announce stuff before it's available, but I see from a slashdot article that QNX is now available for free non-commercial usage. "Non-commercial use includes experimentation, proof-of-concept, and personal use. It also applies to developers creating freeware applications", which means most of us. You can look at: http://get.qnx.com/ for details. "The platform will be available to selected developers in May 2000 and to the general public in midsummer." Apparently they decided *not* to go with the Amiga platform, but the cool look and feel they developed for Photon has been ported to their micro-GUI. They claim that Linux apps are easy to port, and they will be porting lxrun. So we might able to run Euphoria even if Robert doesn't do an official port. In addition to the base stuff, they are including: - GNU Development Package (GCC/GDB, etc.) - QNX Development Packages (Neutrino/Photon/Renderware/Mesa) - Browser Upgrades (Voyager/RealNetworks/Flash/Netscape 6) - Japanese and Chinese Packages - Multimedia Packages (DVD) - Games (including Quake) - Word Processing (AbiWord) I wonder how hard it will be to add Photon support to Euphoria... -- David Cuny
