Darth, "HARDware": something which is physically touchable, like your mis-behaving floppy drive; "SOFTware": a computer program, not physically tangible, but real nonetheless; "VAPORware": a *maybe* sometime in the future computer program, just *talked* about, not currently (or ever?) available for use or testing; *very* much "softer" & less tangible than regular software. Similar in concept to "smoke & mirrors", where an illusionist creates an impression of something which isn't really there.
