Could be. Sound's like something might be stuck in the drive, preventing
the heads from moving. (Something I saw frequently in my repair days,
typically caused by a metal floppy protector that came off in the drive.
If you have kids, then you never know what might be in there.) You might
have to pop the floppy drive out of your system and take the cover off of
it to get a closer look. If there are no obstructions, you might check
that your BIOS has the floppy controller enabled and that drive A: is
properly set for 3.5 inch 1.44 MB (I doubt that this would be the source of
your problem, though.)
