It is the same thing.

The numbers all mean something.

Don't remember what exactly. something like
1 = eXecute
2 = Write
4 = Read

I dont think those are the actual numbers but thats how it works
755:
7 - Owner
5 - Group
5 - Others

Meaning that the Owner of the file has Execute, Read & Write access
The group members have Read & Execute access
And everyone else has Read & Execute access
