I can't recommend installing version 3.1 at all, because it

It does? I'd like to know what they are. Maybe there should be a 'stable'
release and 'bleeding edge' release. At the moment you're stuck with the one
option, buggy or not - unless 2.5 counts as the 'stable' release?
