These messages/routines are used in many instances, not only for creating a
groups. Perhaps you saw a sample source that made use of those things.

I assume the information you saw was aimed to create a DDE conversation
with Program Manager (obsolete by now). DDE ain't particulary easy to
implement, and do requiere some working knowledge of the Windows API. I
strongly suggest you buy a Win32 API book.

Your project sound facinating, wish you luck. More than once I've been
tempted to start such a project, but the 145K+ overhead of exw.exe makes me
step back. There are also so many excellent freeware tools that make little
sense for me to spend my time on that. I currently use Inno Setup, it's
free, full Delphi source code provided, and works great!
