Thank you.
I found that this doesn't work with some extensions. For example, I have a
file that, under DOS, shows as Listacds.xls.lnk, but under Windows (for
example Windows Explorer) is shown as only Listacds.xls, that is, the .lnk
extension is missing, and as you said, this may be a danger if the file
points to a Trojan.

To always view your file extensions in win 98. Open a folder, then
click view, then folder options. When the folder options menu open,
click view again, then unselect [Hide file extensions of know file
types]
