How about
- find_min(SEQUENCE)
- find_max(SEQUENCE)
- min(SEQUENCE)
- max(SEQUENCE)
- lesser(OBJECT, OBJECT)
- greater(OBJECT, OBJECT)

I think this wouldn't cause confusion.
