A programming language is only a tool to have the computer perform some task faster and hopefully more accurately than a human. My first language(to tell the computer) was to wire a board in EAM equipment. The next language was assembler language that made it easier to tell the IBM 360 computer what to do. The next language was COBOL., etc. Each new language was an attempt to make it easier for the average programmer to tell the computer what to do. I then learned BASIC which was a step backward from COBOL as it was interpreted and not compiled hence slower execution. I programmed in C that was faster than BASIC to run but much harder to program. So the trade off was ? I liked Python but the need to start in certain columns was like COBOL and it irritated me. I really liked Delphia, but the cost of buying software to create client server is too much.VB is similar.I learned Java. I used JBuilder and the cost was too much for me.. I like Euphoria because it was C like but not as much syntax. Most of my problems are with hardware. Obsolete hardware and operating systems from DOS, OS2,Win, 95,98, 2000, Linux to XP seem to hamper development. I have problems in Euphoria but I really like the help I get from all of you Euphorians Thanks (I hope I haven't been too long winded or boring) Jim.
