No.  You're cutting your NOSE off to spite your FACE.  There are obviously
problems with THE installer.  I haven't HAD any  W2K, but THEN I don't 
use associations to START programs, except for the associations WITH the
interpreter itself.  

But YOUR solution is clearly SILLY.
