On my Linux system, uname without any options, writes: 
Linux
to standard output.
On FreeBSD, uname writes:
FreeBSD
to standard output.

The two systems are very similar.
If your program needs to make a distinction,
it's probably due to some library or executable
file that might not exist on both systems, so
you'd probably just test for the existence of that file.
