RE: Contest Idea

... I can foresee a long thread developing here :)

so I'll jump in early with my 2 cents ...

* Which ever style of program is choosen for a contest, a percenatge
of people will not be good in that area, or have little interest to
create a program in that area.
For example, in the first contest speed was a defining attribute so
you could argue that people who created well structured code were at
a disadvantage.

* The rules of judging need to be clearly defined.
For example: Will the best "graphics artist" win a graphical demo
contest? Is it based on visual appearance? execution speed? source
code? creativity? a combination of all?
Will one person/a group of people/ or everyone who wishes be judges?

* If exact results are required the task should be OS independant.

* If creative results are required than let people choose the OS.

* The use of external libraries needs to be defined. (Do you allow or
don't you allow there use?)

>From another point of view ....

Should we discuss the "reason" for having another contest?

* To encourage people to use Euphoria?

* To improve how people use Euphoria?

* To expose people to areas of computing they might not have studied?
eg. encyption in contest 1

* To fill an area that is currently lacking in Euphoria?
Libraries/tools/applications in a particular area?

Personally I wouldn't like a graphics demo ... but might particapte
if it's a full game.

Anyway ... my those are my thoughts in no particular order.
