If you'd like to load a .gif into your program, try Michael Bolin's .gif loader in the Archive / Library Routines. .bmp files have a simpler format than .gif and .jpg. That's the reason I implemented Euphoria routines to load & save them several years ago. (Also, both .gif and .jpg have some strange legal restrictions.)
