I'm not changing what's sent through Topica. I'm just converting colon dash right-paren to a smiley picture on the RDS EUforum Web pages. This also causes the RSS feed to have a picture instead of 3 characters, but Thunderbird RSS handles this OK, displaying the picture. I'm not sure about other RSS readers - I might have to change something. I look forward to seeing your new RSS reader. I guess you don't handle full HTML. Just text. Maybe you can convert the smiley URL back to colon dash right-paren. But first let's see how other RSS readers handle it. jxliv7 wrote: > One of the things that appeals to me about the Euphoria forum is the maturity. > It makes this forum about code seem professional. > > I equate smily faces of any sort with newbees and immaturity. A lot of people already type in colon dash right-paren, or something similar. It won't hurt to see a graphical smiley instead. It already shows up graphically with some e-mail clients. I'm not planning to add any more, except maybe the sad face I don't think I need to explain the value of emoticons in text communication, though the more unusual ones are often lost on the majority of the audience. As for how a smiley face relates to "Euphoria" - just look up "Euphoria" in a dictionary. (See - without the emoticon, you'd be really pissed off at me, but with the emoticon, you are only mildly pissed off.) Regards, Rob Craig Rapid Deployment Software http://www.RapidEuphoria.com
