The cassettes themselves are regular audio tape cassettes. You should get a
good brand, and test it before relying on it. The C20 recorded the entire
program 2x on the tape (one reason it's so slow) and it's possible to make
the C20 record it only once, cutting record time in half,, but don't do it,
it's too unreliable. And, altho the Commodore cassette unit is merely a
cheap audio cassette with some control lines, the tape head drivers are
digital, so the magnetic flux on the tape is way above what a audio tape
deck can record,, and playing the C20 tapes back in a regular audio tapedeck
will most likely magnetize the tape head in the first few seconds, causing
it to generate errors. If you are interested in just saving the data,
reliably and cheaply, have your ibm clone pc feed the data to the C20 on a
serial line. While i didn't play with the insides of the C20 that much,, the
C64 could do 115K on a serial line if you set it up right. One company made
a interface for the C20 and C64 that let you plug IDE harddrives into the
Commodore,, but the cost back then was 2x what a puter costs now,, roughly
$100USD per megabyte of hd space... maybe you can find one at a second-hand
store for $20 now.

10 years ago when it was still USSR my family got a Computer!
Nobody had personal computers back then behind the Iron curtain..
Well The computer was an old Commodore vic-20!!!
My dad (speaks only russian) bought some books about qbasic
and we finally managed to load the cassette.
About 6 years back something went wrong..propably the
cassette content got deleted somehow.
Well .. hehe.lol. where can I get a cassette for c-20?
Maybe a wave file? hehe..
