I used a Sharp QA-1800 which has a 800x640 resolution (which is more than enough
for DVDs).  You can also use the LCD from a flat panel monitor, go up to 1024x768
and get HD.  AAMOF, one guy used a 14" or 15" monitor and watched HD versions of
Star Wars. He had pictures posted on the site but they must have been purged.  So
be on the lookout for flat panels with the backlight burned out.

I use the projector in my basement and we just turn the lights off when we're
watching something.  I used a 250W bulb so I have to have the room fairly dark. 
We also hooked the DVD/VCR/Gamecube into a stereo system for sound.  Someday I
want to get a surround sound system but not right now.
