Here is some information on toshiba web site http://www.toshiba.ca/support/Tsbs/200/tsb0235.htm If your laptop has a external video connector so you can connect a external video monitor, that would tell you if it the problem is to do with the fact that the built-in LCD monitor is a dual-scan monitor and that may not work with the drivers you have.
