Hi Everyone, I'd like to announce a new addition to my software collection. euAllegro Games Pack, consisting of Dodgem (as seen before on the RDS Recent Contribitions Page) and the all new all dancing game of Invaders ... ok it doesn't dance and Invaders isn't the newest idea for a game ever ... but it shows off the power of euAllegro quite well. I have posted a copy to RDS and they can also be picked up from my poor excuse of a web page at http://euallegro.fws1.com. You'll need a Pentium 150 or above with DX3 or above. Invaders features Mod music on the intro screen, pixel perfect collision detection and good quality sound effects and graphics. The whole thing comes in at about 600 lines of code. I grouped these games together and called them a pack because they aren't full featured games (although they both are complete) but they are more like "demo" games ... demos for euAllegro the Allegro wrapper I'm playing with. For instance I think Invaders is a bit to simple: * It's pretty hard to die because I let you fire too fast and allow to fire too many bullets at once ... I didn't have heart to reduce it because it was to much fun! * The enemy bullets don't come from the enemy, they randomly fall from the sky. * You only have 1 ship, once your dead ... your dead. * There aren't any barriers just above your ship. I could have improved this game for weeks (its actually structered quiet badly), but my life ambition isn't to write an Invaders clone, so I have released it as a "demo" game. If your: * interested in games programming, or * want a couple of simple games for the kids, or * want 10 minutes of blowing everything in sight away, or * just interested to see how euAllegro is coming along I'd advise you download the pack. I wouldn't suggest anyone download it for any long term *pure* gaming pleasure. I hope I haven't sounded to negative ... It's a fun little game and I had alot of trouble finishing it as the kids and my wife where busy doing beta testing and I had trouble getting close to the keyboard ... and I had a bit of trouble to keep from beta testing myself :). I'd love to hear any comments anyone has. Thanks Ray Smith
