I've have features that I've been able to add to the pure euphoria but not to the real source.
There is no written documentation to explain how to add a feature to today's source code.
User's have always contributed to features but they can not do it; if only the developers know how the source basically works.
This hasn't changed from the 3.1.1 days. If you can add a new feature to the C backend in 3.1.1, then you should have an easy time of doing it with 4.0.5 or even 4.1.0 as well.
I quite agree with this. I learned how to work with the source way back when through a lot of hours of study and trial and error. Some things are more complicated than they used to be, but OTOH, our suite of unit tests cover more than sanity.ex ever did (though it covered/s a few code paths that we did not).
