No, I don't have issues with the current virtual private server. I thought the service providers are permitting only known languages (perl/php etc) on virtual servers, wheras there should be no issue with a real server - after all, what will the provider care if you grab too much CPU/ram? You are not affecting any of his other customers. Of course, a true server is more expensive than a virtual. So if you are looking to get a real server, I'll donate towards it.
The VPS is like a true, standalone server. We have a dedicated CPU and some dedicated RAM and disk space. Within those limits, we can do whatever we like. We chose the OS, have installed the packages we wanted, and are running the processes that we want.
I think the current server is sufficient for our current needs. We're currently on the smallest plan, so there's lots of room to grow. There are definitely plans (or at least aspirations ) to do more with what we have:
- hosting SCM / tickets for euphoria community projects
- setting up a debian repository
