What it is saying is that XP and later OS's by default do not wait for network initialization during bootup. This improves bootup performance but can cause problems in some cases, such as yours. You can use the group policy editor (gpedit.msc) to change this behaviour as described in the article. If the workstations are not part of a domain this would have to be done on each computer. If they are members of a domain (Windows 2003 Server or later) the policy would best be defined in Active Directory. Larry Miller
