A bit late in the day, I know, but no-one seems to have got anything at all like the Sun logo, which is quite well-known and recognisable. Also, it seems that many of the contributions would not actually be of value as an icon, and I would think that that is one of the main requirements. So how about some variant on this kind of thing? It is recognisable as "eu" anyway!

Clearly there are many variants of this - I have one with a circle round, one with curly braces around, coloured, etc - but this is the basis. Any interest, gentlemen?
