the MAX_PATH is 256 charaters in WIN32 API.
I met that problem at work in the past . A secretary was trying to open a file in word by browsing in the open file dialog box. She was seeing the file in the dialog but was getting an error when trying to open it. I told her to shorten her folders names an it solved the problem.
