EU4 executable runtime error task routines

EU VERSION : EU4 r2176M
PLATFORM : Linux Ubuntu
COMPILER : gcc 4.1.3 20080929
i have an application that makes use of the task_* related
routines. program compiles ok after running euc,
but gives a runtime error of
Fatal run-time error :
Task 1 (task_event_propagator) exceeded its stack size limit of 260096 bytes
the same thing happens with the demo in $EUDIR/demo/news.ex,
generates and compiles ok, but fails with runtime error of
Fatal run-time error:ws.go.com/
Task 3 (search_url) exceeded its stack size limit of 130048 bytes
running euc with -h switch only provides for increasing stack size
using watcom compiler
any help to resolve this, much appreciated as
the apps i am developing rely
heavily on the task related routines
