No, we have this word in many variants and they all sound almost just as English - "publika" - public, people; "publichnyj" - for public; "publikovat'" - to make visible for public, etc.
For "open" there is different word - "otkrytyj", so I do not have any problem with understanding what really means "public".
But in EU 4.0, this word is not suitable, I think.
If I'll update the bilingual EU 2.5 to 4.0, its "public" become "and_up" to be absolutely clear in specific Euphoria context.
Same about "export". Translated to Russian, it will be the Russian equivalent to "up".
