  When you went from version 030522 of asm.e to version 050209 of asm.e . 
 
The shl and shr ( probably also sal and sar ) got broken. 
 
shl eax, cl <-- will fail    
 
shr eax, cl <-- will fail 
 
They both worked in version 030522 of asm.e
