Well, I use my real name on the Web. My name is Jason Gade, and I'm pretty proud
of it. Every time I look up my name in Google, I get more and more hits. BTW, I'm
not the blues player or the filmmaker unfortunately. Both are things that I wish
that I could do but can't.

If you don't want your regular email used on EUforum, why not get a throwaway
address? There are so many free ones out there that you shouldn't have a problem.

Hi Jason,

Hey that's interesting -- to look up your own name. I found the
article i did for Solar Washington a while back right away.

'Course, i also found out that i had lost a wrestling match somewhere
in Tennessee, and co-wrote some book in Paris (ha ha ha...).

Take care,
Al

And, good luck with your Euphoria programming!

Right. Make sure to put quotes around your name when you do it.

Hmmmmmmmmmmm. Did you post your credit card number to a web-based forum? Was
your name and credit-card number posted to a (non-secure) web page? Email is much
more private than the web. Most e-commerce sites use https which is supposed to
be relatively secure.

Of course, I wouldn't send my credit card number via email because the stored
email could be accessed if someone gets access to the computer it is stored on.
https to a trusted site should be more secure.

Hi Jason,

No just private Email. I did this before and had no trouble (so far).
But it is scarey.

Not that there's anything wrong with that...

That's the way it should be. smile
If someone doesn't want to see her/his name below a certain text, then
s/he probably shouldn't write that text at all.

And the anonymous so called person "Craig Roberts" calls you and me and
many other serious people here "stupid":

<quote>
who's stupid enough to use their real name on the Internet?
</quote>

and at the same time s/he wants to get answers from us. "Interssting",
isn't it?

Thanks for upgrading.

You entered your credit card number on a secure Web page (https),
using very strong encryption, at DigiBuy. DigiBuy keeps all
the credit card numbers to themselves. RDS never sees them.
The same goes for PayPal. If RDS does get a credit card number
e-mailed to us, we immediately delete the e-mail. This is very rare.
I just checked, and couldn't find your credit card number anywhere
in our October e-mail.

Currently there isn't, but I'll ask Junko to look into it as an option.
It would mean that people couldn't send you private e-mail about topics
raised on EUforum. Note that all addresses appear on EUforum and the
message archive using " at " rather than at-sign.
That's probably enough to fool most automatic e-mail
harvesting software. As for manual harvesting, I doubt that it's
worth someone's time to do it.

So IMHO this is not a good idea!
Please don't make EUforum less usable because of 1 anonymous person.

Hi Don,

Oh, ok, he hee :)
I guess you can find all sorts of strange things on the web.
One thing interesting though is when i looked up my own name
i did find links to Euphoria...that was cool...programs, messages
here on the Forum, etc.

BTW i also found that you're a selfish, alcoholic philanderer :) :)
and/or a pastor :) :)
Also: "No one knows who the "real" Don Cole is" he he.

Take care,

I agree.
But what makes this person anonymous , as opposed to other people on this

S/he uses the name "Craig Roberts", and then s/he wrote:

Of course it isn't my real name

If someone doesn't want to see her/his name below a certain text, then
s/he probably shouldn't write that text at all.

Yep. That's how my coworkers found out I wrote a book on

I'm not advocating for taking email addresses off of the EUforum, but I don't
think that it would be too difficult to write an email address harvester that
looks for patterns in text that match normal methods of email munging.

Fortunately the spam filter at yahoo dot com (is this an address? blink) is pretty
good.

One thing for users of services such as PayPal should watch out for are phishing
emails. I get them all the time claiming to be from service at paypal.com, and
they look very real and will take you to a web page that looks exactly like
PayPal's. Then they ask for your credit card number. Always be aware of the
address that you are at. Hover the mouse over links because the address in the
toolbar may fool you as well.
