The following line contains only a string of "-" (minus) chars: ----------------------------------------------------------- Is it there this time? (Web interface) In my previous posts on "C operators": the first post contains only one out of two lines of all minus chars, while the second post contains none, while both posts had two lines of all minus chars. Whats with that? This list is not suitable for programming conversations at all. --Al

Al Getz writes: > The following line contains only a string of "-" (minus) chars: A tool is being used to strip advertising out of messages (before Topica inserts more ads). The tool looks for long lines of dashes, equals signs and other patterns. The test is not perfect, but I'd rather lose an innocent line here and there, than be overwhelmed with ads. The fact that you are the first person in more than a month to notice anything shows the tool is working well. Many people have their e-mail client set up to automatically quote the entire message they are replying to... "Original Message Follows"... including all the ads. They are too lazy to do selective quoting or strip out any ads, so the tool does it for them. Many people have Yahoo and Hotmail ads at the end of their messages. Without this ad-stripper, you'd see far more ads than we have now. Regards, Rob Craig Rapid Deployment Software http://www.RapidEuphoria.com
