I have been trying to help Ryan Breen create an IRC client using euTcp4u
but have across "possibly" similar problems.

I can telnet to an IRC server and get connected and send commands fine
but when I attempt it with euTcp4u I always get an "error connecting"
error.  I think I traced it to the fact I need an "Ident Server". I have
tried
using an external "Ident Server" but at this stage have been unable to
connect.   Possibly the Ident Servers I have tried are poorly written
as they seem like quick and dirty programs written specifically for
one purpose or another.
As a side issue euTcp4u will always stuggle as it has blocked connection
logic and will always need an external Ident Server to be listening on the
Ident Port (113 from memory??).

...so I have no real help except make sure your Ident Server logic is
working.
