I do not wish to emulate a human entirely, only some aspects of humans, plus
those attributes in which puters excel. To build a human thought process,
emotions, etc inside a puter is like Sony building a robotic cat that is a
reproduction of a real biological cat,, what would be the advantage to Sony
or the customer? If the only goal is "companionship", as Sony says, then all
those attributes of "cat" which are not tied to "companionship" need not be
included in the robotic cat,, presto, no cat food (unless you like that part
of cats,, co-dependancy), no litterbox, no shedding, no parasites, no
improper behavior, etc. Sony is targeting a niche market, but 0.5% of the
usa population is still 1.3 million bots sold, which is prolly enough
encentive to continue some R&D into this area of robotics. Look at what
happened to Furbys (ewwww),, that *surprised* me.

Kat,
still going "ewww" at the Furby fanaticizm.
