   Well, actually there are some signs that this is happening:
   SAP AG has released their flagship database Adabas into Open
   Source as SAP-DB. And inside my company we are porting all our
   databases to Firebird SQL, the Open Source version of Borland's
   Interbase.

   There are also already serious developments going on for Open 
   Source ERP and CRM software. From my pov it will only take about
   one or two years to level the playing field for Linux in this
   respect.

   I can say at least this: for my own company it is already an
   issue to move our development projects over to a development
   environment that can support Linux as well as Windows blink
