I agree, that VOID = my_routine(1,2,3) is more self-documenting, than just calling 'my_routine()', as if it were a procedure. My favourite would be something like _my_routine(1,2,3) though. This calls the function as a procedure, *and* it is self-documenting, if the '_' at the beginning of a routine name will only be allowed in this situation. It wouldn't break existing code.
