1. Al: DSS new problem

Hello Al,

I noticed that when you open the slide show by association or
RightClick/open with that the smaller browse window opens up (grey with nothing
in it) then closes real quick before the picture shows.

How could the Deluxe Slide Show .exe determine if it was being opened by
clicking on the DSS icon
 or
clicking on a picture's icon (assuming DSS has been associated with the .jpg
ext)?

In the later case (which also could be done with right click/open with) there
would be no need to open the 'current dir/browse window because we know
where the picture is in that case.

Hello again Al,

I guess it does that no matter how you open it

It's just much faster when you open it with the DSS icon, so you don't notice it
as much that way. I see you've got close window right after it's created. So I
don't know what else can be done. Unless the window could be created invisable.

Hi again Don,

I'm not sure what you mean here, as when i open it it seems to work
just fine. I've tried opening it several ways now and all of them
work ok. Are you saying you want the slide show window to come up
on top and stay there when you first open the file with DSS, or
you want some other sort of behaviour?

Take care,
Al

And, good luck with your Euphoria programming!

No, I'm saying what I don't want. That is the 'Slide Show Window' (the smaller
grey window w/ 2 buttons) not to blink before the main window and the picture
show up. But I don't think anything can be done about it. If you don't see it
maybe it's a win2k thing or I have a slow computer (500MHz).

Hi Don,

Oh ok i see what you mean now, and yeah, you should be able to
create that window 'invisible' as you suggested...this way it
wont come up at all until the user clicks the appropriate menu item.

Keep in mind when you create the window you'll have to specify
other styles like 'overlapped' etc. if that's what you want,
and just leave out the WS_VISIBLE style.

Take care,
Al
