1. dosshell????
Hi everybody!
all the euphorians talk about 'disk #4' and the
'Suplemental disk'of the MS- DOS 6.2X version and in the dos
6.20 package
that came with my computer(4-5year old) there's only 3 floppys!
May be my distributor played a dirty trick to me?.
The MS-DOS 6.22 version that we have installed at the University it
doesn't include the supposed utility dosshell!

If you use DOS "HELP DOSSHELL", you'll get some info
on dosshell. Specifically: "Dosshell is included with DOS
6.0, it is not included in version 6.2.... You can order the
DOS Resource Kit -- see the coupon in the back of your
manual."
It might be available from Microsoft's web site for free.
I sure wouldn't pay for it.

Wouldn't be the first time a 'new' computer was shiped
with a problem with the dos disks. my dad bought a 'new' computer
(someones 386 overstock, this was just before the pentium came
out)from a local department store a couple of years ago. the original
dos and windows disks that came with it and the computer itself had
anti-exe virus (this was discovered BEFORE he had purchased or
installed ANY-THING).
apparently someone had cut a deal with the department store
chain and some-one with overstock on an out of date set of computers.
the monitors were re-furbished, and the foppies for windows 3.1 and
dos (6.0???) had such amature looking lables that the only reason i
don't think they were bootleg is that all the computers had what looked
to be regular OEM manuals for the software.
