I received email from topica only until 29 Nov. I tried to unsubscribe and subscribe to it again but I still don't receive any mail. I suggested Rob to move the mailing list to yahoogroups. It is much more reliable. It will also promote Euphoria via the yahoogroups directory. We will be able to create polls and create online databases easily. Browsable and threaded message archives. Many people have Yahoo ID so they don't need to maintain an account at topica. Yahoogroups will append a one or two-line advertisement at the end of email message. That's the only drawback I found. We can still have the web interface for EUforum, euphoria search on message archives, etc. How do you think? Will we be better off by moving to the yahoogroups? Topica really sucks. I just use Euforum directly http://www.listfilter.com/EUforum/ without any problems at all over the last five years. Don Cole

OK, just now I received all 52 mails from topica that I didn't receive, all in incorrect order because topica modified the mail date. I am using pop3 mail and I have near 100,000 emails in my harddisk. I often use the search feature to find existing mails quickly. I know how many mails I sent and receive everyday. That's why I still like the email way. don cole wrote: > > Aku wrote: > > > > I received email from topica only until 29 Nov. Same reason like AKU ; I use my local stored mails like a knowledge database.

EYforum would be spammed out fast I believe. Rob, do you plan to have a topica-like message digest emailing feature? CChris

As you suggest, it would probably lead to an increase of spam sent to listfilter.com. It might also cause listfilter.com to be placed on a spam blacklist. It would also require me to fix things whenever there was a real or imagined problem with the e-mail feed. RSS is the best way for people to receive messages from EUforum. Eventually, all major e-mail clients will support RSS. It works great for me using Thunderbird. If you want to accumulate messages for your own private searches, you can use RSS for that. RSS messages are accumulated in your e-mail client, just like normal messages. You can also download any months you want from the full message archive. That will remove a lot of spam from everybody's in-box because everyone's email address is being posted on Topica whether a user is signed up to receive Topica email or not. Apparently a few hundred people are receiving EUforum via Topica. Most people are still using things like Outlook Express which do not support RSS. I may drop support for Topica eventually, but I don't see it happening in the near future. > That > will remove a lot of spam from everybody's in-box because everyone's > email address is being posted on Topica whether a user is > signed up to receive Topica email or not. I don't know exactly where the spammers get their addresses, but I know that most of the spam I personally receive is not sent to rds at RapidEuphoria.com (my Topica address). It's sent to some bogus address at RapidEuphoria.com, or it's sent to my addr.com address (which I never use) which is the registered address for RapidEuphoria.com as published somewhere on the Internet. Although I'm not using outlook express but my mail client doesn't support RSS. And some people don't want to change their mail client that they have been using for years to other ones that support RSS.

RDS does though and I wish it wouldn't. Even the dumbest spam bots can figure out that 'someone at somewhere dot com' is an email address.
