Thanks Pete,
I've already got that page in my bookmarks but I didn't see anything about what
to do with the files. I just assumed one needed a DVD burner to use those file.
Anyway that page seems to be down right now. I'll re-read it when it comes back
up.

The salient points from there are..
"The .IFO files contain menus and other information about the video and audio.
The .BUP files are backup copies of the .IFO files. The .VOB files (for
DVD-Video) and .AOB files (for DVD-Audio) are MPEG-2 program streams with
additional packets containing navigation and search information.
Since a .VOB file is just a specialized MPEG-2 file, most MPEG-2 decoders and
software DVD players can play them. You may need to change the extension from
.VOB to .MPG. However, any special features such as angles or branching will
cause strange effects. The best way to play a .VOB file is to use a DVD player
application to play the entire volume (or to open the VIDEO_TS.IFO file), since
this will make sure all the DVD-Video features are used properly.
Many DVDs are encrypted, which means the .VOB files won't play when copied to
your hard drive. (If you try to play the copied VOB files, the decoder will
request the Decryption keys from the DVD-ROM drive and will fail. You may get the
message "Cannot play copy-protected files".)
If you try to copy the .IFO and .VOB files to a recordable DVD it may not play."

You can download an 'old freeware' version of "DVD Decrypter" here
http://www.mrbass.org/dvdrip/SetupDVDDecrypter_3.5.4.0.exe
it will handle CSS and Sony Structure protected DVD's (inc DL). rip in ISO, File
or IFO mode, has many features, and is freeware.
Macrovision recently bought the rights to DVD Decrypter and stopped distributing
the product over the net. However there is still a few freeware liciecned
versions on the web.

Thank you for your response.
I got some files off the internet that look some thing like this:
VIDEO_TS.BUP
VIDEO_TS.IFO
VIDEO_TS.VOB
VTS_01_0.BUP
VTS_01_0.IFO
VTS_01_0.VOB
VTS_01_1.VOB
VTS_01_2.VOB
How can I covert these to a watchable video file either in RealPlayer or MS
MediaPlayer? I do not have a DVD drive. I do have a CD R/W drive that I can write
ISO with. I'm goimg to try you last download suggestion (no subject).
If you know what software does this let me know. If one HAS TO HAVE a DVD drive
to do this, I'd like know that too.

DVD Shrink can compile the files into a nice ISO for you. The ISO will be to
large for standard CD-R/RW's though. You may want to intstall a Virtual Drive
that you can load ISO files into (like a fake DVD drive). A good freeware one can
be found on the Elaborate Bytes website, its called "VirtualCloneDrive". It will
allow you to treat the ISO as a physical DVD or CD disk.
If u want to use Ms MediaPlayer to play dvd's you'll have to have version 9+
installed and a DVD codec to go with it.
There are'nt many freeware DVD codecs arround and there hard to find or usualy
substandard (wont play all DVD's) If you go to the Ms MediaPlayer plugins page
you'll find some good codecs there.
I use PowerDVD. It allows me to play *.ifo *.vob *.bup files without having to
convert them into an *.iso. I just have to select ALL the files associated with
the DVD from the "Select Source" menu.
nb. DVD Codecs usually come bundled with your DVD drive.
If you have trouble finding DVD Shrink. I may mail to u as zip. ~1.04Mb

It occured to me that you could use Nero (trialware) or Deep Burner (freeware)
to burn the DVD files as VCD or SVCD.
