Those interested in making their apps work across different languages might want to take a look at this: http://www.suntimes.com/output/news/cst-nws-rap06.html Matt Lewis

Hello Matt: > > Those interested in making their apps > > work across different languages might > > want to take a look at this: > > > > http://www.suntimes.com/output/news/cst-nws-rap06.html This link seems to be [OT]&[OS] - off topic & off subject. But if without jokes, how can I use the TTF fonts on EU DOS32 ? Assembly procedures allow such the tricks, one Russian cunning boy says. But he doesn't share his secret with me. This is very interesting work, I think. There is the recent similar package by Mark Akita (Font_SDL) on the contrib page for useing Jiri's fonts on Windows (reverse task). The clue to internationalizing is just set of the needed fonts. But Jiri's font sets have no the foreign 128..255 parts. One of the main Windows features is set of the national ttf fonts. If without these fonts, Windows is not Windows, but just too buggy OS. If you have an ability to use the ttf fonts on DOS32, then you can do almost any GUI, browser and such things for any foreign language. So, I say your work is very interesting. > I didn't quite finish it because of difficulties > in writing an interpreter to read the "hinting" > instructions which are necessary for Truetype > fonts to be readable at small point sizes. > I did get pretty far along and I would > be happy to share my work with you, if you are > interested. I am very interested, but I can do nothing with that assembler. I'm not a professional programmer, but just a self-educated coder-shmoder, "shizzle-nizzle" or something such So, if you'll post this your work to RDS's site and complete it, I'm ready to pay my MicroMoney until the RDS's cash will become (bad English?) empty and I'll be unregistered by Rob Thanks Colin!
