Thats a good question.

Euphoria itself, I don't think with be hurt directly. (I don't see why a
TCPA-enabled OS would block Euphoria, if the home user wanted to use it.)

Of course, the threat to open-source programming, and even to general
hobbyist programming, is a different story ...

I hope noone adopts that security, but bill gates has a way of setting the
standard(all the people that are reading this in outlook express under
windows know that).

The thing is, there is no good reason to keep using Outlook Express.

It's quite ironic, really.

List of all the good reasons to use Outlook Express:

List of all the peole who use Outlook Express:

The thing is, that all the DRM goons have to do is come up with some
marketspeak, and convince computer stores that it's good for their bottom
line. Average Joe Punter will be unsure what's what, and the store clerk
will quite happily steer them towards the new Fritz-enabled PC's and
OS's....

8. Re: Will euphoria run, or get executed by the new security

I'm not saying that it is usefull, im just saying its a standard, that is
windows/mediaplay/internet exploder/outlook/word you get the idea. some one
said "how many engineers does bill gates need to screw in a light buld, none
make makes darkness and industry standard" --I didn't say it, but how true.

Near as i can tell, Euphoria interpreter will run if Robert gets M$ Palladium
certification for the interpreter exe. It's liable to be pricey and take time to
be
certified, making beta releases fewer, and jacking up the price of the
releases. If we compile anything, it most likely will not be distributeable,
best
case is it will get caught in a warning and prompt asking the user if they
want to drop all "protection", hardly heartwarming, hardly instilling a sense of
trust in your customers. It most likely will be restricted as to what it can do,
like sys calls and asm code blocks and raw memory managing. The first
release of "security" code is due out later this year.

In a way, this will make computers run slower, due to the cpu essentially
interpreting the exe before running it, analysing each move the app makes. If
a user cannot disable "protection", email sent to a "secure" box from an
"unsecure" box will be unreadable, and replying to a "secure" box from an
"insecure" box will also be unreadable. M$ will also be redesigning basic
TCP/IP, changing the packet sizes and the bit allocation within each packet,
making obsolete all previous socks dll's. They got practice with this in winXP
and win2k. The packets will contain personal fingerprints of the source
computer, which will be stored hashed in the cpu registers and bios.

You XP users will find the snooping ability of M$ to be more alarming at this
url:

Ironically, Palladium and Fiskchip are making me feel a lot *less* secure.

The Amiga and its operating system is looking real good about now. It's not
due for at least six months though %-(

The way I see this is it will either consolidate Microsoft's hold on computing
and give them control of the internet (which was paid for by taxpayers, not
them) - OR - it will cause a mass exodus away from the PC and Microsoft
to the great benefit of Apple and other manufacturers, as well as computer
users, because almost anything is more stable and usable than Microsoft.

Allow me to present Hutnick's Theorem of Internet Discourse:

Any sufficiently frank technical discussion of MicroSoft software is
   indistinguishable from MicroSoft bashing.
