I know a bit about IEEE as it was part of two of the modules in my degree
course, but none of my textbooks cover this anomaly. Hence me posting to
the group.
See the thread Irv and I are running about converting reals. We cover the
IEEE format for 6 byte floating point numbers (atoms/reals etc).
