1. Re: What can be done to enhance Euphoria's Future

Hello all,

I have been following the discussions concerning those things that can
be done to enhance Euphoria in the future, and a few ideas have come
to mind that I haven't seen mentioned.

1) Several general locations exist with shareware repositories (i.e.
off the Netscape portal, etc.). Those that carry Euphoria, which is
by no means all, typically do not have the most current version. Many
times when they do the description says DOS only and doesn't mention
the Windows capability. I am not sure how best to make sure those are
updated, but that sure seems like a good starting point.

2) Quite a bit has been mentioned about structures. I do not want to
get into the discussion, so won't say pro or con. However, it is
interesting to note that Java does not have them, so I don't think
this point alone is holding Euphoria back.

3) Many individuals have mentioned needing more exciting or 'showcase'
examples of the capabilities of Euphoria. My suggestion is this can
be where the readers of this list come in. Could we identify several
categories of ideas, write them as a group or individually, pass them
around for review, and then plan on them being included with Euphoria
(if Rob concurs)?

I feel one of the strengths of Euphoria is the group of users reading
this list. Having been using the language, albeit part time, for a
few years, there are several names which appear in this list
regularly. The unselfish nature of their contributions to others has
been great. If we could package this as part of the overall Euphoria
experience, for those investigating initially, Euphoria would only
benefit. Unfortunately, due to the nature of the internet and
software downloads, it is not always possible. Perhaps the install
program could re-iterate the benefit this list provides (Rob?).

Thanks for the chance to share my thoughts,
Dave Hackamack
