1. Offtopic: Linux/UNIX Script Language

Hi all,
Sorry for this euphoria-unrelated post but I would like
to write a linux bash script that does the following:
1- start the pppd daemon
2- go to http://www.somewhere.com/download_area/
   with Lynx or ftp.somewhere.com with the gnu
   ftp client
3- download file1.zip ,file2.zip and whatever
4- kill pppd and shutdown the machine

if anyone knows how to do this,please,send me an example!
